ON a glorious spring morning, 30 ladies and future Yelverton Golf Club captain Richard Price gathered to watch the new lady captain Sandy Hawkins’ ‘Drive- in’.
Whisky Macs were served while the chef produced hot canapés. The club professional Tim McSherry charmed the lady captain into believing that he had placed a good golf ball on the tee for her.
Alas, it exploded in the air with an orange streamer and nose dived a short distance from the tee. After laughs all round Sandy made a good drive with a real golf ball.
The ladies take part in a competition to guess where the ball lands on the first hole with all donations going to her Charity — Jack and Jill’s Childcare in Plymouth.
