ROBERT Aubry the new head coach for British Para Swimming came back to his first swimming club last month — Okehampton Otters Swimming and Lifesaving Club.

He is a former ‘Otter’ who used to swim for the club before becoming the club’s head coach. Robert gave up his time to come and coach the current group of swimmers.

He took over the head coach for British Para Swimming in March and now has joined up with the team in Sheffield.

The Otters current head coach David Dennis said it was fantastic of Robert to give us some of his time,

‘I know that he still takes a keen interest in the club, unfortunately as his time is so limited he hasn’t been back for over 10 years, when this opportunity came up, both the club and Robert jumped at the chance.

‘I know that both the swimmers and coaches enjoyed Robert’s session and we all learnt a lot from him, in such a short time.

‘To be able to pick his brain was just brilliant, he was so helpful and was happy to pass his knowledge on.

‘Speaking to the children afterwards they were already asking when he will next be back, so here’s hoping it will be soon.

‘The whole club would like to thank Robert for his time and support. We would also like to wish him all the best in his new role with British swimming.’
