BRIDESTOWE beat Babbacombe for the second time this season to cut their lead at the top of C West.
The home side batted first on a wet pitch with James Ewen (33) digging in at the top of the order.
James and Sam Ewen (21) shared a 48-run partnership for the third wicket, and Phil Hatton (34) and Chris Lavis (19) also put on 48 for the sixth wicket.
Skipper Dan Fogerty (18 not out) hit some lusty blows at the back end of the innings to take his side to 206-8, helped by 47 extras from Babbacombe.
Dean Peall (2-33) bowled well with the new ball and Tim Goodwin (2-21) and Andy McVeigh (3-54) picked up wickets in the middle overs.
Babbacombe pushed the hosts all the way, but could only manage 192-9 when the overs ran out.
Steve Lewis (42) top scored from the top of the innings and Dean Peall (38) struck the ball well down the order. The pair put on 64 for the sixth wicket in the only stand of note.
Sam Powell (19), Damon Calland (15) and Tim Goodwin (17no) kept Babbacombe’s hopes alive and took the game right to the final over.
Dan Fogerty (4-39) and Alex Jopling (4-43) excelled with the ball and kept wickets falling throughout the innings.
The win gives Bridestowe an outside chance at the league title and piles the pressure onto Babbacombe with Ashburton winning.
