CHARITIES and community groups in Central Devon are being encouraged to apply for a share of a £3-million funding pot by the constituency’s MP.
Launched last month the People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund is looking for charities to apply for funding to finance its dream project — an idea it has always wanted to deliver but never had the opportunity to develop.
Central Devon MP Mel Stride said it was an opportunity not to be missed: ‘Regularly I meet with local charities and voluntary organisations across Central Devon that do fantastic work supporting people with disabilities, assisting those without transport to go shopping or get to medical appointments or encouraging young people to get involved with sport. This is an exciting opportunity for any local charity or group to secure vital funding for a project that they are eager to get off the ground.’
Funding from the scheme, now in its eighth year, will be offered over two years from 2018. This year’s prize fund is the largest ever with a top award of £1-million.
To date the fund has invested more than £7.3-million in 24 projects across Great Britain.
Applications for the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Dream Fund are open until Tuesday, August 22. For more information or to apply visit www.postcodedream trust.org.uk
