LOVE IS LIKE A GARDEN Love is like a garden It grows in time with care Once the seeds are planted The roots of life are there. Small shoots reach for sunlinght The leaves are green and new Hard frost on a cold night Early morning dew. Smother it with sunshine Shelter it from storms Water in abundance As the flower forms. Always treasure the beauty Tend it with love as it needs Never be sparse with your duty It may become smothered with weeds.

The menu, which changes regularly, uses local produce wherever possible and the focus is on fresh food. Even the chips that come with your steak are homemade. The Sunday roasts are a particular favourite amongst customers.

WHO’D HAVE THOUGHT IT
The “Who’d Have Thought It” is a 16th Century Inn situated in the picturesque village of Milton Combe, nestled in the hills above the River Tavy and only two miles from the lovely Lopwell Dam, famous for its salmon leap. Steeped in tradition, the inn is reputed to have been the haunt of legendary seafarer Sir Francis Drake whose home, Buckland Abbey, is close by. Old comfortable settles, flagstone floors and a cracking wood fire set the scene. Both the bar and restaurant service delicious meals using seasonal produce from Southwest farms including Dartmoor reared beef and game from local hedgerow and nearby estates. Being a Free-House, the Inn offers popular draught beers along with local red ales and scrumpy cider. Above all, the owners extend a warm welcome to all.
