CLAIRE KNIGHT Take back control of your life with Hypnotherapy Tavistock therapist Claire Knight has been established at the Abbey Mead Natural Health Centre for 11 years, offering Hypnotherapy for may issues, such as the desire to overcome fears, phobias and anxiety and to break unwanted habits including smoking and over eating. The introduction of the highly successful ‘Hypno Band’ (virtual gastric band) protocol to Claire’s practice has enabled many to reduce their weight, naturally and permanently. This 4 session process uses a combination of strategies to permanently change unwanted eating habits before using hypnosis to convince the subconscious that a gastric band has been fitted. This allows the stomach to feel smaller and therefore satisfied more quickly with less food. If you are ready to make this the year of change, call Claire on 01566 783407 or email claireknighthypno@hotmail.co.uk for more information on this safe, relaxing and pleasantly surprising therapy.
Are Your Dentures Sitting Comfortably? The loss of some or all of your natural permanent teeth can substantially reduce the quality of your life, your self confidence and some basic daily functions such as eating and speaking. Dentures both complete and partial can be worn which restore our self esteem and confidence with speaking and eating. Over time as our bodies change our mouths do as well, but unfortunately our dentures do not and can become worn, loose and ill fitting. With age the gum ridges in our mouths can shrink quite readily causing dentures to become loose and easily displaced, this is especially noticeable when eating or speaking. Loose dentures can cause painful sore spots to the gum and cheek areas which no longer makes meal times a pleasure. Dentures that are ill fitting and have a worn biting surface often give the wearer a sunken and therefore aged facial appearance, with a noticeable lack of natural lip support. A worn biting surface on the teeth part of the denture can cause problems with chewing which means the wearer has to resort to a soft food diet. This has then been known to contribute to future digestive problems. It is widely accepted that a denture should be replaced every 3-7 years but denture wearers should attend regular check up appointments like those that have their natural teeth. During these appointments the Dentist or for those that have no natural teeth the Clinical Dental Technician can check the gums and soft tissues which can be at risk from oral cancers to ensure that they are healthy. Todays advancement in materials and techniques, coupled with a far greater understanding of the denture wearer’s emotional needs, enable the Clinical Dental Technician to hand craft dentures with the most natural appearance and improved function. The Clinical Dental Technician personally undertakes all stages both in the clinic and the laboratory to give you dentures which improve your smile and restore facial and lip support so that only you the wearer know that you are wearing dentures.
Helen Sampson-Hill I often hear from therapy clients as well as yoga students: “Oh well, I’m getting old, what do I expect?” At one level this, of course, has some truth in it. At another level there is always something that we can do to help ourselves. Developing hard, tight, short muscles; having less strength and energy; complaining about aches and pains. These are all symptoms of a body with habitual movement patterns, and not necessarily inevitable with age. It is possible to reverse the tightening of our muscles, to increase our energy and to reduce our aches and pains. I use deep massage techniques to lengthen shortened muscles and show the client how to use their body to continue to regain flexibility and vitality. I use postural adjustments to help the client learn new ways to walk, sit, stand and perform their favourite tasks. I can teach the client to breathe more fully, bringing oxygen and health back to muscles and organs. Tissue adjustments bring flexibility back to the rib cage. I also teach yoga to help people regain their potential range of body movement, breathe and feel more vital in their lives. My yoga students comment on how they feel more flexible, taller and leaner. These people are living proof that we don’t need to tighten up and shrink as we age! To discuss these issues with me and to make an appointment, please call Helen Samson-Hill on 01822 615812.

What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a safe, relaxing way to help you deal with the stresses and strains of modern living. All occupations, relationships or situations can produce a certain amount of stress, but when stress levels build up, anxiety, depression, or negative habits are often the result. Nowadays especially, many of us are experiencing dramatic changes in our lives and by suppressing worries about things, they often become even more difficult to cope with. The natural state of relaxation used during hypnotherapy sessions enables us to work together so your own mind can bring about the changes in your life that you need and deserve, - safely and comfortably. It may be that you are troubled by anxiety, panic attacks, work–related stress, relationship problems, damaging habits, low self- esteem, or other issues, but if you and I work together, focusing on how you want your future to be, we can enable you to achieve the results you want; a more enjoyable and fulfilling life. A no–obligation first session is absolutely free, and gives me the opportunity to explain in more detail how the therapy works. If it’s easier for you, I can visit you at home. A partner, friend or relative can be present as well if you wish.
