Free collection of reusable furniture and appliances
Refurnish is a local charity which collects unwanted reusable furniture, appliances and other household goods from the public, free of charge. Electrical items are professionally tested and repaired and then sold with a warranty and furniture only undergoes minor repairs. The shop is open to all however a 20% discount is given to anyone on benefits/low income. The mission of Refurnish is to reduce household goods going to waste, help alleviate poverty by providing low cost goods to people on low income and create employment, work experience, training and volunteering oppor-tunities for a wide range of people often with a mixture of support needs. Refurnish Chief Executive David Banks said ‘We often help older people who have decided to downsize and move to smaller accommodation. Like most people they don’t want the things they have cherished to be thrown away when somebody else could make use of them and certainly don’t want to pay to do so. Summer is just around the corner….hopefully, so it’s time to spruce up your garden! We sell Natural Stone Paving, Cobbles/Setts, Granite Kerbs/Steps & Oak or Reclaimed Railway Sleepers which are ideal for edging or raised beds. We have Oak Barrels which can be cut in half to make planters or left whole for ‘rustic’ water butts and we also sell various Granite Troughs, Mushrooms, Urns, Planters, Bird Baths & Statues. For the home, we stock Slate Flooring, Slate Sills & Hearths which can be cut to size. We have a large quantity of Oak Beams, also natural Curved Oak Lintels which look lovely above doors, windows & fireplaces. Our Oak Boards are great for sills or making doors. Plus we have all the usual Granite Building Materials, quoins, lintels & cobbles/setts. In our showroom, we sell Rustic Oak Fire Surrounds, Coffee Tables, Benches, Oak Chopping Boards, Slate Placemats & Coasters.....all hand crafted in our workshop.
