BUCKLAND ABBEY Jubilee celebrations kick off month of music and theatre at Buckland Abbey, Garden & Estate See Buckland Abbey, Garden & Estate, near Yelverton, in a different light this summer through our evenings of music and theatre starting with a barn dance for the Queen’s diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Bank Holiday Monday 4 June. Fox amongst the Chickens are ready to play away the evening in the magnificent Great Barn giving you the ideal way to finish your Jubilee weekend. Starting at 7.30 tickets cost £5 for adults and free for under 16’s, so a great value evening. The bar is being provided by our friends at the Who’d Have Thought It Inn in Milton Combe and we have the lighting of our official Jubilee Beacon during the evening too. Don’t miss out! Jubilee themed activity packs are on offer all Jubilee weekend (£2 each) perfect for any little prince or princess visiting the Abbey during the daytime. Jonathan Cummins, House and Visitor Services Manager says “We can’t wait to celebrate the Jubilee at Buckland Abbey, Garden & Estate. A barn dance is always a great fun occasion here, and is just something a little bit different. As this is a not for profit event we’ve been able to make it free for kids and there will be a BBQ too”. ?On 9 June Join the City of Plymouth Concert Band, Plymouth Theatre Company and friends for a night of West End musical entertainment in the 13th century Great Barn. Featuring Angela Collins and others from The Music of the Night. For a delicious pre-concert meal call our restaurant on 01822 856041 to book. Enjoy an evening of open air theatre and follow Shakespeare as he creates many of his best loved plays, watch as some of his greatest characters are brought to life (15 – 17 June). This lively production as been created specifically for and by members of the Tavonians and is being performed as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company Open Stages Project. Jonathan adds; “We are lucky this year to have a variety of music and theatre evenings for all tastes in addition to the Jubilee Barn Dance– for me the Tavonians Shakespeare production being performed in the Abbey garden is a real highlight.” Be transported when The Endless Journey African Desert Blues multimedia concert comes to the Great Barn (27 June).
