REFURNISH Demand for affordable furniture and appliance soars
The demand for affordable furniture and appliances is increasing with Refurnish at Tavistock reporting record sales last week. The manager Roger Bullingham said ‘ As the recession bites more and more people are visiting our store and buying reusable second hand goods. We are finding it difficult to keep up with the demand for good quality reusable furniture, especially beds and sofa’s and we are seeking donations of unwanted goods including broken appliances which we can test and repair.’ Refurnish is a local charity which collects unwanted reusable furniture, appliances and other household goods from the public, free of charge. Electrical items are professionally tested and repaired and then sold with a warranty and furniture only undergoes minor repairs. The shop is open to all however a 20% discount is given to anyone on benefits/low income. The mission of Refurnish is to reduce household goods going to waste, help alleviate poverty by providing low cost goods to people on low income and create employment, work experience, training and volunteering opportunities for a wide range of people often with a mixture of support needs. For further information, to arrange a free collection ring 01822 618822, email tavistock.refurnish@refurnish.org or visit our shop behind the Focus Do-It-All building.

CHARLES STEEVENSON WINES
This year, all at Charles Steevenson Wines … known to many of you as The Wine Warehouse, are celebrating our 25th year in business. It is at this opportune moment, I would like to express my sincere thanks to one and all for your continued loyalty and support over the last years. As a traditional and independent wine merchant, our aim has always been to offer our products, prices and a service second to none. Whilst mindful of the current recession and constraints of our customer’s buying we still have a portfolio of wines in excess of 1500 wines; sourced from every corner of the globe and reflect a combination of classic and contemporary wines. The majority of our wines are sourced from often small passionate producers … who in turn favour their wines to grace the tables and wine lists of the more discerning restaurants, pubs and private imbibers alike. With our well informed sales force we have now established ourselves as one of the principle wine suppliers in the South West, our fleet of vans regularly being spotted heading up the M5 and down to deepest, darkest Cornwall. Often referred to as an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’, our retail shop ‘The Wine Warehouse’ continues to welcome customers both old and new who are eager to explore both the most recent arrivals and scrutinize the very latest vintages; regular tastings and wine events are undoubtedly the easiest way for us to convince and prove to our customers our wine merits. In addition to our wine sales, there seems to be emerging ‘Recession Proof ‘ following for our eclectic range of spirits and digestifs; with the tasting table groaning under the weight of open samples, a real hit! As a one stop drinks destination, it is critical that we compliment our service by offering free glass loan, real ales in bottles and barrels, free deliveries, party planning and of course ….. 25 years of experience. We look forward to welcoming you to the Wine Warehouse very soon.
