Concerts to celebrate the jubilee

Thursday, 21 June 2012

AFTER the success of their recent performance of Handel’s Messiah, Okehampton Choral Society is set to perform two special summer concerts to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
The music will be varied and lighter in tone, with shorter pieces and famous pieces of music connected to the recent celebrations and the Queen’s coronation.
The climax to the concerts will be a performance of Parry’s ‘I am Glad’, which was played at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The concerts take place at Sampford Courtenay Parish Church on Monday, June 25 and Fairplace Church on Monday, July 2, both at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from The Beanfeast in the Arcade at £5 each, or £2 for students.
