THE glitz and glamour of Hollywood returns to Dartmoor next week as the second Chagford Film Festival kicks off.

Building on the success of last year's inaugural festival, organisers have revealed the programme of events, with a James Bond-themed extravaganza planned.

The festival kicks off on Monday, September 24 with a glamourous opening gala and a screening of smash-hit film The Artist, with champagne and music from the Globe Singers.

Oscar-winning sound editor Norman Wanstall, who won the Academy Award for Sound Effects in 1964 for his work on Goldfinger, will be taking part in a special James Bond workshop on Friday, September 28, sharing his experiences on working on six Bond films and a series of cult movies, including The Ipcress File and Fahrenheit 451.

He will be joined at the workshop by Paul Inglis, the art director on Skyfall, the next Bond film due for release on October 26, and Quantum of Solace, released in 2008.

He was also senior art director on blockbuster films Prometheus, Children of Men and the HBO TV series Game of Thrones. Ron Saunders, who worked on the Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', will also be present.

Throughout the week visitors will be able to watch films of the 'golden age' of Hollywood, visit a vintage 'movie bus' mobile cinema, and attend workshops held by film industry professionals.

British film director Johannes Roberts will hold a question and answer session after the screening of his 2012 film Storage 24 on Thursday, September 27.

Puppet builder Wendy Froud will share her trade secrets at a model making workshop on Wednesday, September 26. Wendy worked as a sculptor and puppet builder for Jim Henson for many years, working on films The Dark Crystal, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Film screenings include 1939's The Hound of the Baskervilles, 2012's The Woman in Black, and Franco Zaffirelli's famous 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet.

ABBA fans are in for a treat on Friday, September 28, with a Mamma Mia singalong followed by Sensation, one of the country's leading ABBA tribute bands.

Excerpts from Chagford Filmmaking Group's latest project The Ballad of Mary Whyddon will be projected onto the side of St Michael's Church on September 27 and 28.

The Bond theme is continued on finale night with six volunteers abseiling down the tower of the church as James Bond, and a double header of screenings of Dr No, and Goldfinger.

The finale night promises to be a spectacular event, with limos, a red carpet, casino and live music.

The festival runs from Monday, September 24 to Saturday, September 29. Tickets from the Globe Inn on 01647 433485, visit http://www.chagfordfilmfestival.co.uk">www.chagfordfilmfestival.co.uk or follow the event on Facebook.
