THE dedication of a loyal member of staff was celebrated at Okeford Vets on Saturday, as Sarah Bevan celebrated 30 years at the practice.
Sarah joined the practice, then known as Claydon Young and Harris straight from school, and has seen the main changes to both the practice and Okehampton in general during that time.
Staff and friends turned out to the celebrations for a chat and catch-up. Donations made on the day will be given to Dartmoor View Dog Rescue.
The majority of the practice's work was with farm animals when Sarah joined the practice, with only two and a half days of surgery for pets. The most complicated piece of machinery it had when she joined was a computer with a 2MB hard drive. Now, the practice is small animals only and takes full advantage of technological advances, with digital X-rays, flexible and rigid endoscopy and fully computerised records.
