THE Germansweek annual cancer bazaar takes place on Saturday October 1, marking 51 years since fundraising started in the village.

The fundraising began in 1960 when the late Betty Prout was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following successful treatment she held her first coffee morning to raise money for cancer charities.

Since then Betty's coffee mornings have grown into an annual bazaar, raising money for a number of charities, including CLIC Sargent, Children's Hospice South West and FORCE.

This year the money raised will be donated to research into breast cancer. Organisers are aiming to raise £1,000.

The bazaar takes place in Germansweek Village Hall and opens from 2pm until 4pm.

Stalls include bric-a-brac, plants and clothing, and there will be raffle tickets available. All are welcome.
