THE music in All Saints Church in Monkokehampton may be a little louder this weekend, as the organist celebrates a special anniversary.
Enid Stentiford celebrates playing the organ at All Saints Church in Monkokehampton for 70 years this Saturday, having first played there on January 21, 1942.
Enid was at school in Monkokehampton when the Rector, FS Legg told Enid she could play the organ for the funeral of Mrs Ann Squance. The headteacher, Mrs Wilcocks had played for a wedding that morning, but was taken ill and Enid stepped in to the role.
She has continued to play the organ at the church ever since, and for five years also played the organ at Broadwoodkelly Church for five years until her marriage to her husband Len in 1952.
Enid will celebrate by playing the organ for All Saints' Sunday service
