COURAGEOUS staff at Okehampton's Co-operative took the plunge to raise money for the shop's charity of the year.

A team of 19, made up of staff, family, friends and former colleagues, took the 100ft plunge off Meldon Viaduct on Saturday to raise money for the Carers' Trust, the Co-operative charity of the year.

Teresa Luffingham from the Co-op said: 'It was an absolutely fabulous experience, for some of us it was the best experience of our lives and we all wanted to do it again.'

The team are estimating they have raised between £1,000 and £1,500. The Co-operative expressed thanks to Adventure Okehampton for supporting the abseil, everyone who took part and to customers, friends and family who sponsored the abseil.
