A FASCINATING collection of pictures and information regarding the tiny village of Germansweek has been mounted in St Germanus Church this month.

The local history exhibition was mounted by Germansweek residents Alan and Jean Smithers and comprises hundreds of pictures of the village over the last 120 years.

Mr Smithers said: 'Some of the pictures of the village are from the early 20th century and show trees which are now 100ft tall which had just been planted, and thatched roofs which have now been tiled.

'Quite a lot has changed — most villages grow over the years but we have actually lost properties.'

Mr Smithers said the pictures in the exhibition had proved quite a talking point among the people who had come to view them, sparking many memories from the past.

The exhibition was organised to raise funds for the parish church, whose name Germansweek is derived from.
