THERE was a record attendance at this year's first open meeting of Okehampton U3A last week.

Displays were set up for artists to show their paintings and members of the photographic group displayed their pictures.

Walking, gardening, science, technology, reading and sewing groups were all represented around the room, which gave an overview of what the branch has to offer.

The hall buzzed with activity as guests enjoyed cups of tea with home made cakes, scones and mince-pies and played games, including whist, scrabble and bridge.

General meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the Ockment Centre and non-members are also welcome.
