THE chairman of governors at Hatherleigh School this week reiterated a remark by Ofsted inspectors that the school 'is one to be proud of'.

Ian Strawbridge, writing in the school newsletter, made his comments on the results of an Ofsted inspection, which took place earlier this year.

He said: 'The report told us a lot the staff and governors already know, in particular, we have an improving school going in the right direction at a good pace.

'We are aware of the school's strengths, and will continue to build on these, as we are aware of the areas in which development is required and we are constantly striving to address these areas and work together to strengthen them.

'I am certain the changes we have put in place in the last couple of years and, with the teaching and learning taking place in the school on a daily basis now, the next inspection will show even further improvement.

'The comment from the inspectors that I will remember and reflects the feeling I already had about the school is "you have a school you should be proud of".'

He thanked the headteacher Caroline Boother, staff, fellow governors and all the volunteers who participated in the inspection, for all their hard work and dedication, not only for the two days of the inspection but for what they do all year round.
