RHS Garden Rosemoor is holding its annual local produce show on Saturday, August 4 and is finding that the recent weather conditions are reducing the number of entrants in some classes.
Held in partnership with the Great Torrington Horticultural Society, the show has a number of classes for home-grown vegetables, fruits and produce.
But with the wettest start to the growing season on record and, until recently, low temperatures there are many vegetables that should be at their seasonal best at this time of year struggling to get off the ground.
Luckily the Rosemoor Produce Show is not all about perfect vegetables. There are classes for the funniest shaped vegetables as well as plenty of baking and creative classes. Cakes, scones, jams and eggs can all be entered. From a creative aspect there are also classes in knitting, needlework, painting and photography.
Due to the increasing number of young visitors to RHS Garden Rosemoor there is a special show schedule just for children. Decorated wooden spoons, cupcakes and cookies and photographs can all be entered into the under 16 categories.
All classes for adults and children are free to enter and there are prizes for every first, second and third place.
A Dartington Crystal Trophy will be awarded to the exhibitor with the highest number of points overall.
Rosemoor is accepting entries up to and including the day of the show — so call in to pick up a schedule and entry form or phone 01805 626800.
