COURSES for young people looking to get ready for working life are being held at Room 13 in Okehampton.

Running until June 22, the Activate Your Future workshops intend to help youngsters get motivated for work and life through experiential, fun and practical activities.

Organised by Motiv-8, a charitable organisation aiming to improve the life chances of young people, the workshops will be free and available for those aged 15 to 18.

The programme is designed to boost self-confidence, teach young adults how to set realistic and achievable goals, improve interviews techniques, overcome barriers, improve communication skills and explore future career paths.

The course can help participants with employer engagement and also offers a Level 3 first aid at work course as well as a health and after qualification.

The programme, which held its first session on June 5, will run from 9am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, until June 22.
