HALWILL Football Club has been at the centre of village life since the early 1900's. The club enjoys good local support from businesses and villagers alike.

Despite being a small village, Halwill fields two competitive senior teams, with the vast majority of players coming from within the village. The first team plays in the Devon and Exeter League division one, having worked their way up through the league system from intermediate three since 1995, under player-manager Andrew Winser. The second team are gradually climbing up the leagues too, since transferring from the Kingsley League to the Devon and Exeter, in 2005.

Both teams enjoyed a successful 2009-2010 campaign with the first team finishing mid-table in the league and reaching the semi-final of both the Devon Senior Cup and the East Devon Cup. The second team won promotion to Devon and Exeter division seven.

The club is ambitious for more success this season with the first team aiming for promotion to the Devon and Exeter premier division for the first time, and the second team hoping for promotion two years running.

The club meets for training on a Wednesday night and new players of all ages and abilities are always welcome – for details please contact Andrew Winser on 07815 855253.

The club say its performance on the pitch is not being matched by its changing facilities. (See back page to see the club's efforts to get new facilities).
