ALL Saints Church and St James' Chapel in Okehampton are appealing for old photographs in order to create a pictorial display of the buildings' histories.

The churches will hold an exhibition of photographs from the local community, showing views of All Saints and St James', and prizes will be given to the best three photographs.

New pictures are also welcome, as well as very old ones.

Each photograph selected will be displayed with the contributor's name and a short description of the image and history.

All photographs will be returned so long as a stamped addressed reinforced envelope is provided.

The churches hope the event will offer the opportunity to celebrate the community of Okehampton.

The exhibition will be held on Saturday, September 11 and Saturday, September 18 at St James' Chapel.

Judging will start at 10am and all entries must be received by Wednesday, September 1.

Anyone contributing a photograph should clearly state their name, address and telephone number on the back of their photograph, along with a SAE for its safe return.

Photographs will be treated with the utmost care.
