THE first weekend of South Tawton Art Group's (STAG) exhibition at the Church House drew a good number of visitors.

STAG are holding their latest exhibition in celebration of ten years since their foundation.

Kari McGowan, who set up STAG, said: 'The first weekend of our exhibition was really good. It went really well as we had a lot more people turn up than we were expecting — given the wet weather it was surprising.

'We had quite a lot of sales of the artwork, and lots of good comments from visitors to the exhibition. The weekend had a jolly atmosphere thanks to the village fête, and we're looking forward to this weekend.'

As with all of STAG's annual exhibitions, the second weekend of the event coincides with the Open Gardens weekend in South Tawton and South Zeal. The exhibition will be open on June 18-19 from 10am to 5pm.

There is an eclectic mix of art on display, ranging from paintings, prints and greetings cards to hand painted silk scarves and fused glass. Admission is free.

The group are keen to invite everyone to visit their exhibition and share their enthusiasm for their work.
