DEVON artists Gill Jones and Helen Lee will be showing a selection of artworks using a comprehensive variety of techniques inspired by the beautiful land and seascapes of North Devon

The pair holding their ‘Out and About’ exhibition of artworks at the Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington until Saturday, September 3. They enjoy the challenge of working with different media to keep their creative juices flowing and which they hope will provide something interesting for visitors.

The main focus and inspiration of Gill’s work was for many years the moorland and coastline of North Devon. While working for her BA degree in fine art, her concern was with the human figure and the vulnerability of man. She graduated with first class honours in 2011. Currently she is working with watercolour and is back on the beaches and moors getting inspiration from the weather and the views and is also enjoying expanding her printmaking techniques.  This exhibition will include works using watercolour, acrylic and a selection of printmaking techniques.

Helen is a watercolour artist who enjoys painting the world around her. She often includes an architectural component in her work and enjoys using ink to structure the images she makes. Her brush marks are loose and bold giving an impression of what she sees. Helen has recently relocated to north Devon where she has now set up her studio and gallery space.

Gill and Helen have exhibited together before and have found their individual styles work in harmony.  They enjoy working co-operatively and many of the images have been created whilst working side by side in the studio. Both have exhibited locally and nationally.
