THE air cadets in Okehampton were presented with awards at a ceremony at Okehampton Golf Club earlier this month.

Guest of honour at 2443 Okehampton RAF Air Cadets’ evening was the Mayor of Okehampton Councillor Jan Goffey.

Squadron leader Andy Oliver said: ‘I am so proud to command such a great team which has provided fantastic opportunities for the young people of Okehampton and its hamlets. Well done team 2443.

‘The quality of awards this year has remained consistently high. On top of that Commendations were awarded to 26 cadets for high levels of attendance and to 14 staff and cadets for achieving 4th place out of 23 in the Wing Activities Competition.

Squadron leader Oliver was presented with a certificate of merit from the Regional Commandant for service to the cadets.

Team 2443 re-opens its doors in January and is again looking to recruit young people from Year 8 and above, as well as staff.. Anyone interested in joining can attend the first Monday of each month at 7.15pm. For more information email [email protected]
