THE first meeting of the Okehampton Beekeepers' summer programme was held at Clifford White's Apiary on Sunday, May 10.
The session was attended by 20 branch members, including several prospective beekeepers, and included detailed inspections of Clifford's four colonies of bees.
Inspections were performed by Malcolm Craig and Will Pyne, who concentrated on checking for brood disease, due to European Foul Brood found in the Okehampton area during preceding years.
However, no evidence of foul brood was discovered in any of the four hives.
The next Apiary meeting will be held at John and Elaine Morgan's apiary on Saturday May 30.
All members are welcome, but are asked to phone John and Elaine a few days in advance to assist with confirmation of numbers attending.
