THE Bishop of Plymouth, the Rt Rev John Ford, visited Exbourne and Jacobstowe Community Association's bi-annual community market last Saturday.

The bishop's visit was part of the 1,100th anniversary of the Exeter Diocese . He enjoyed a breakfast before browsing the stalls, which offered cakes, breads, vegetables, jewellery and hand-made flower arrangements.

The event, which raised £1,200, saw children from Exbourne Primary School entertain with a spirited dancing display outside the village hall.

Bishop John then spoke to a packed hall on the benefits of working together in the community and praised the enterprise and community spirit of the community market and its organisers.

The community association expressed thanks to all who helped make the morning a success.
