PLOUGH Sunday was celebrated at St Andrew's Church in Sampford Courtenay last Sunday, during a special parish communion service for those who work the land.
Members of Winkleigh Young Farmers' Club pushed the old horse plough up the aisle to the chancel for blessing by the Rev Nick Weldon, together with a sample of grain and soil.
At the end of the service the congregation processed to The Square and the service concluded with the blessing of the tractors parked there, which included a vintage Ford, John Deere and New Holland, plus ploughs, seed drills and other attachments.
