THE inaugural Chagford Film Festival kicked off at the Globe Inn on Monday night — with burlesque dancers and live music entertaining the crowds.

Nick Scott and his jazz band provided the music as people packed into the pub for the first night of the six-day event.

Organiser Susan Harley said: 'The opening night was fantastic. The night had a great party atmosphere, people were laughing and enjoying the great music and dancers.

'It was thrilling to see so many people turn out and support the festival. Ticket sales are going well, though there are still plenty left for people to come and join in.

'The whole town has been very supportive, with many of the shop owners putting up special film displays in their windows.'

The week's programme continues through to Saturday, when the Oscar-winning producers of 'The King's Speech' will give a question and answer session.
