MEMBERS of 2443 (Okehampton) Squadron Air Cadets recently completed a two-day young first aider course run by staff at the squadron.

The cadets have been making the most of a £714 grant from the Devon Community Foundation to buy first aid equipment, and the teaching obviously paid off, as the squadron went on to win the first aid section of The Caiels Trophy Weekend held at RAF St Mawgan recently.

Being presented with their certificates and badges at the squadron were: Corporals Joe Edwards, Joe Seymour and Hal Donovan and cadets Michael Price, Thomas Harris, Cameron Penwill, Kyle May, Joe Hayes and Joshua Cox.

Cadet Alice Cox also completed and passed the course, but was, unfortunately, absent when the awards were made.

Also in the picture are Flying Officers Daniel Wayne and Karen Wayne, who tutored the cadets.

Anyone interested in joining the Air Training Corps, whose members are aged between 13 and 17, should go along to the squadron parades, at Military Sidings, Tors Road, Okehampton, on Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9.30pm. People can also contact the Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Sarah Cohen, on 01837 55044 (parade nights only).
