THE Chagford Macmillan Cancer Support Group has received several hundred pounds after being selected as one of Waitrose's Charities of the Month.

Staff at the store were able to present the group with a cheque for £417. This donation will boost the amount raised by the group so far this year to £4,500, and there are still fundraising events to take place.

The group will be holding a traditional Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday, December 14 at Endecott House, Chagford, where cakes, jewellery and gifts will be on sale.

There will also be a grand raffle with a bumper Christmas Hamper and many other prizes to be won.

Details will be released in the near future about Chagford Macmillan Cancer Support Group's first big fundraising event for 2014 — a roaring twenties supper dance at Chagford's Jubilee Hall in March.
