THE famous Chagford Carnival makes a comeback this August bank holiday weekend and is sure to be an event not to be missed.

The carnival was cancelled ten years ago due to health and safety concerns over motorised vehicles a requirement which affected many carnivals.

This year the event will have some big changes to bring it back up to date.

There will be no motorised vehicles, which instead will be replaced with an eco-friendly walking procession, harking back to the rich history of carnivals.

Children will create displays to carry in the procession, which will be made from recycled materials and local businesses will run a Spot the Mistake in the window competition.

Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the family event which will be held on Saturday, August 28.

There will also be entertainment and music throughout the day, as well as a grand parade at 6.30pm.

Parking is free and will be signposted.
