FIRE crews had to rescue a person trapped within a vehicle following a road traffic collision on Sunday morning.

The collision happened at around 9.30am on the A3124 at North Tawton, and two crews from North Tawton and Okehampton attended.

Crews stabilised the vehicle and had to cut the roof off the car to extricate the casualty, who was removed onto a spinal board and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crews attended another collision involving one vehicle on the A30 between Sourton and Stowford Cross on Sunday afternoon.

Three engines from Hatherleigh and Okehampton attended the incident in which one car had hit the central reservation. All people were free of the vehicle and crews assisted police with traffic control.
