A CHAGFORD florist is celebrating after winning a gold medal at last week’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Alice Herrington from Amy’s Flowers in Chagford was a gold medallist in the show’s Young Florist of the Year competition. There were 16 competitors from all over the UK, Ireland and the Isle of Wight.
This year, the judges awarded four gold medals as they said the standard was so high. The medals were awarded on a points system.
The theme was to mark 200 years since the birth of Queen Victoria on May 24, 1819. Finalists from across the country competed in exhibiting a royal crown in celebration of the occasion.
Alice was representing Bicton College where she has studied and completed her level 1, 2, 3 and 4 national diploma. She is hoping to begin her level five masters in floristry in September.
