A MUCH changed Chagford went into this round one match with a little trepidation, following recent results. University B fielded a young side that had not opened their season too well either.

For the first 15 minutes, Chagford struggled to find their feet but eventually settled down.

In the 18th minute Chris Woof found himself on the left wing and was to score the first goal.

Miller's crunching tackle on the University full-back led to the ball falling nicely for Woof to fire the ball over the 'keeper, opening the scoring.

Andrew Davis and Warwick Botham stretched the lead before half-time, Chagford playing with a lot more belief.

The hosts took up the running again, from the re-start, Robbie Miller dominating as a fifth midfielder. Jon Scarry came on for the injured Whatley and stole a goal. The youngster is finding his way back after an injury lay-off of his own, looks short of match sharpness but has a knack of being on hand when needed.

The fourth goal was the clincher when Woof headed his second and Frost scored a consolation for the visitors, to round off a decent contest.

n Chagford return to Bow AAC this weekend in the league and will be seeking to avenge their recent cup exit at Station Road. The Reserves entertain Culm United res at the Memorial Ground. Both matches kick-off at 3pm.

n CHAGFORD Football Club, newly elected to the Devon and Exeter Football League, urgently need a goalkeeper.

Club spokesman John Pearce said: 'Interested parties should be capable, committed and ambitious enough to press for a first team place. Additional one-to-one coaching can be arranged, if wanted. The teams play in divisions one and six, boast excellent facilities and have a great club spirit. The club also seeks an assistant to the first-team manager. Again, applicants should demonstrate ambition, commitment and capability.'
