EVERY year for the last 40 years Prussia Cove in Cornwall has hosted its International Musicians Seminar and former participants are now amongst the world’s best soloists and leaders of the great orchestras.
Considering that performers of the stature of Andras Schiff, Steven Isserlis and Sir Simon Rattle are associated with it, there can be no doubt of its quality or the high regard in which it’s held.
Every year a group of musicians from this event are invited by IMS’ artistic director, Steven Isserlis, to take part in a national tour which culminates in London’s Wigmore Hall. This year, Calstock Arts is lucky to have been included in this tour.
The Take 5 quintet comprises both experienced performers and young musicians including Edward Francis-Smith (double bass) who, at 19 years old, is one of Britain’s youngest internationally touring musicians and a member of the European Youth Orchestra; and winner of multiple international prizes Mathilde Milwidsky (violin) who has performed throughout the UK and Europe and has been an award winner since the age of nine.
The programme for this concert will include Mozart, Kodaly, Rossini and two pieces by Dvorak.
