PLAYED at the all-weather pitch in Okehampton on Sunday this game proved to be frustrating for the home side who, despite piling on the pressure from the start, found the Chard goal elusive.
Tara Davidson and Sophie Tripp in central midfield for Oke worked tirelessly both defending and then moving quickly into attack providing support for the forwards.
Okehampton were awarded several penalty corners but excellent goal keeping skills from the Chard keeper prevented Oke from converting them into goals.
Chard were fast on the break but solid tackling and tight marking from Rachel Hammett and Captain Nicky Stoneman thwarted the visiting attack. A couple of occasions when Chard shot at goal, keeper Shannon Osman made superb saves and cleared the ball to keep her team out of trouble.
Oke's Kim Bland dominated the right side of the pitch reading the game carefully, creating space and providing the forwards with quality ball. Bland's play complimented right wing Molly Petherbridge whose determination and speed led to goal scoring chances.
Oke thought they had broken the deadlock when left wing Denise Horner had a clear shot on goal which rebounded off the post. Winnie Rademaker also skimmed the post with another shot.
Despite a final frantic push from Okehampton in the last 10 minutes the final score remained goal-less.
