A NUMBER of significant charitable donations have been made at the Christmas party of a local vintage vehicle enthusiasts' club.

The event took place at Winkleigh Village Hall on December 2, and was attended by members of the Winkleigh Over 60s Club.

Chairman of the Devon Traction Engine Veteran and Vintage Car Club, Jeff Stanley, presented cheques of £1,000 to Matt Woodleigh for the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal, and to Emma Perry of Children's Hospice South West. Mr Stanley also presented a separate anonymous donation of £100 to the hospice.

A cheque for £100 was also presented to the Air Ambulance appeal by Chris Baber of the North Devon Austin Seven Enthusiasts Club.

Members of the traction engine club also served refreshments, and carol singing and dancing took place, with music provided by Bet and Audrey.
