A MAJOR charity challenge is passing through Devon on June 16, with a group of charity cyclists popping into the Three Crowns in Chagford for a quick pint.

Roger Ryman and the Hop Cycle team are on their JOGLE —John O’Groats to Land’s End — cycle challenge to raise money for Macmillan?Cancer Support.

This is the latest challenge for Roger, head brewer of St?Austell?Brewery. He has also completed an epic row around Cornwall.

He said: ‘It just seems to make more sense for me to be cycling home rather than further away from Cornwall every day.

‘I know it’s probably one of the hilliest sections of the ride and most people like to get it out of the way early, but I’m sure the warm reception we get once we cross back into the county will spur us on and, hopefully, our legs will be a bit more acclimatised to the ups and downs by then!’
