THE PARENTS of a university graduate from Okehampton have thanked a town charity for its support for their daughter,

Kay and John Bickley thanked the trustees of the Okehampton United Charity for its financial support during the last years of their daughter Katie's undergraduate studies at the University of Bristol, including her third year of study in Germany.

The support by OUC is open to all young people in Okehampton who are progressing on to further or higher education and apprenticeship schemes after leaving school. The OUC grant is not means-tested.

Mr and Mrs Bickley said the grant has been a great help to Katie.

'Our thanks also go to the Maynard School for Girls in Exeter for providing such an excellent educational foundation for Katie and a sound preparation for life.

'The outcome has been very positive and Katie graduated this summer with a 2.1 in LLB law with study in continental Europe.

She begins working for Dorset County Council in October on the national graduate development programme for local government.'
