VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help pack shoeboxes next week in an effort to bring some Christmas cheer to men, women and children living in poverty in Bulgaria.

The Trussell Trust's Christmas Box Appeal is collecting items which will be sent to Europe to provide Christmas gifts to some of the poorest people in Bulgaria.

In 2011, schools, churches, businesses and individuals helped to collect a record-breaking 5,887 shoeboxes across Great Britain.

There will be a packing session in the Church Hall on Market Street on Tuesday, November 13 from 11am to 3pm, filling shoeboxes covered in festive wrapping paper with small gift items such as socks, paper, pens, toothbrushes, and soaps.

Any volunteers who can spare a little time to help with either session will be warmly welcomed.
