ALL Saints Parish Church is marking Father's Day on June 15 by making sure that all the men in the congregation get a present. The rector, the Rev Stephen Cook, said: 'We give a gift of flowers to all the women who come to church on Mothering Sunday and I have always thought it is unfair not to do the same for men on Father's Day. 'After all, being a father is as important as being a mother. 'So for the last few years we have been handing out little gifts to all the men — fathers or not — who come to church. 'One year it was duct tape, another a mini can of WD40. 'This year, well that's a secret, but it is always something which we think they will like and which we can tie into the theme of the service. 'We also give people the opportunity to remember fathers who are unable to be there or who have died, so as well as being a fun occasion there is also a serious side.  Jesus taught us to pray to God as 'Our Father', so by thinking about what a father ought to be we increase our understanding of God.' The service, which is one of a series of 'good news' events throughout the year, starts at 11am.  Everyone is welcome, and children are especially encouraged to bring their dads along.
