THE first event for Okehampton Children's Centre last Saturday was a coffee morning that raised £270.

Recently, funding for the children's centre has been cut, leading to reduced play sessions and support for parents and children, so local parents decided to set up a fundraising committee to raise money and awareness of services available at the facility.

The group expressed thanks to everyone who helped and the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.
