OKEMENT Surgery has shown its support for the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team with a donation of neck collars.

The collars have been donated so that the team can stabilise possible spinal fractures in people being rescued on the moor.

The GP surgery at Okehampton Hospital has shown its support for the group before, donating a laptop computer in the past.

The stiff-necked collars are robust enough for the environments operated in by the rescue group. They can be re-used and are able to cope with rock, mud and dirt in outdoor situations.

l Former members of the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team are being invited to a celebration evening for former member Fred Barlow this weekend.

The group is inviting anyone who has been a member since the group started more than 40 years ago to attend a celebration for Fred Barlow, who celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this month.

Past members are being asked to bring any photographs or memorabilia depicting their time in the team.

The event will be held at the White Hart Hotel on Saturday, December 15 at 7pm.
