A CHARITY supporting combat veterans through the sport of surfing is the latest to benefit from Waitrose's Community Matters scheme.

The charity was set up in 2009 to support combat veterans and their families through suffering.

Veterans can suffer from physical and mental difficulties, and Surf Action can direct people to appropriate therapies either in-house or through third parties.

The Community Matters scheme raised £214 for the charity.

The money from Waitrose will pay for a surf camp in Bude from May 11 to May 17. The camp provides a free holiday for veterans to surf and canoe, and to receive a combination of psychological and holistic therapies.

Simon Dolphin and everyone from Surf Action expressed their thanks to Waitrose and Okehampton shoppers for their support.
