THE primary school PTFA recently held a fundraiser selling bacon 'butties' in the churchroom. They started at 8am and served a steady stream of people on their way to work, children going to school and, as the morning went on, customers at the post office. The mothers made £128 for PTFA funds and people living around the Square enjoyed a lovely smell of frying bacon wafting around.

MORNING prayer at the parish church was conducted by Mrs Sandra Collier. Mr Chivers played the organ and lessons were read by Mrs F Stratton and Mrs B Dibben, C Baker was duty sidesman.

Evening prayer was conducted by Mrs P Durston with D Chivers as organist and the lesson being read by Mrs E Chivers. The sidesman was T Hannaford.

On March 27, there will be a United family service in the Methodist Church. Also, on the 27, a steak pie lunch will be held in the Victory Hall. Tickets £6 each from PCC members.

RESIDENTS were shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Mr Tom Andrew. This was only five weeks after his wife, Vera, died. Residents extend sincere sympathy to their family.
