RESIDENTS of Halwill had plenty to celebrate at the Halwill Gala week at the end of last month, with the opening of a new footpath and unveiling of new defibrillators.

The last few months have seen a big fundraising initiative spearheaded by the community emergency plan committee to provide defibrillators for both Halwill Junction and Halwill town.

The whole village has been so enthusiastic with their efforts that the first defibrillator machine has been installed in the porch of the parish hall.

The new machine was officially unveiled by Torridge district Councillor Barry Parsons.

Cllr Parsons also opened a new park that leads from the car park to the sports field, allowing easier access for wheelchairs and prams to the fields and its events throughout the year.

Saturday, July 20 kicked off a week of activities that included badminton sessions, a family fun morning and a bingo night.
