A LITTLE food for thought: After reading the front page report by Tom French 'Setting a strategy for town's future' (Okehampton Times, May 19), I later found myself turning the pages of a national newspaper and seeing another interesting article showing concern about shopping in the high streets.
On reflection, and with thought for people in and around the town who have recently been badly hit by the almost sudden lack of employment, maybe it isa good time to ask a serious question here with respect! Will Okehampton Town Council have talks with Mary Portas as she travels the country on her mission to revive our town centres? Mary has plans to examine all aspects of town centres. She will talk to retailers, town planners, councillors and shoppers about what they want to change, so perhaps Okehampton could take the opportunity and benefit from having an independent view of this historic town in a modern age.
Mary can be contacted on http://www.maryportas.com ">www.maryportas.com ; or twitter via @maryportas.
