FOR those who are fascinated by all things creepy and crawly, go along to RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington, Devon between May 23-31 for an exciting 'Creepy Crawly' week, and celebrate the mini-beast!
On average, there are 10,000 insects living in every square metre of habitable land on earth and the insects are very much encouraged at Rosemoor.
Throughout the half-term week, there will be lots of interesting creepy-crawly themed activities to take part in, including a creepy crawly children's trail and a chance to see worms and ants hard at work in the entrance foyer.
There is a 'Bangers and Brash' party on Wednesday, May 27 at 12 noon. The garden's new family picnic and play area 'The Brash' will be officially opened with food served from noon. The Brash is a natural hideaway in the woods for children (and adults!) of all ages to enjoy. There will be log stepping stones, giant bugs to spot, dens, bird feeding stations and much more.
The North Devon Beekeepers Association will be at Rosemoor on Tuesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 28 to show off their bees and hives. They will be doing family walks around Rosemoor at 11.30am and 2.30pm on each day. 'Bee' there! Local bug fanatic, Joe from 'Repto Bug' will also be bringing some of his collection of all things creepy and crawly on May 28. Hissing cockroaches, giant stick insects and friendly tarantulas will be amongst his mini-beast friends!
