MERTON parish clerk Wendy Askey was honoured at the parish council's annual meeting, following Wendy's 40 years of loyal service.

Wendy's 40th anniversary as parish clerk passed in 2010 and the council acknowledged the milestone at their meeting.

Wendy received a specially engraved Dartington Crystal vase and a hearty thank you from all the parish councillors.

Tim Horner, parish council chairman, presented Wendy with her vase. He said: 'Wendy is a stalwart and her outstanding service to the community is much appreciated. Here's to the next forty years!'
